Analysing the primary keyword “how to make money from home” using Long Tail Platinum returned the following results:

Ranking A Video For Competitive Keyword Make Money From Home

The overall competitiveness scored 49 out of 100 (0 being least competitive and 100 being most). Although it’s generally advisable to try and rank for keywords with LTP competitiveness scores of less than 40, I noticed that only two of the top ten pages were targeting the full phrase in the page title and URL and also that all but the last two pages had zero page rank. So I thought it may be worth a shot, especially with over 40K searches per month!

For the secondary keyword “earn money from home” Long Tail Platinum dug up these stats:

Ranking A Video For Competitive Keyword Earn Money From Home

With a competitiveness score of 46 out of 100, this keyword does not appear in the page title and URL of any of the top ten pages for the phrase and only one page has more than 0 page rank. There’s also a page with no page links appearing in the top ten. So again, perhaps this would also be a worthy keyword to target.

I was disappointed to see that FON Video Ranker’s tier 2 pages did not have any links to the tier 1 pages and so I asked for my money back on this product.

Instead I then paid for a couple of reputable back link packages on Fiverr which were delivered a few days ago. I haven’t seen any ranking of my video yet and am not particularly hopeful about this. So I will leave this alone for now and carry on with my blog.

There’s a new Google SEO ranking factor that’s huge right now. And when you take advantage of it, you can find yourself with higher rankings and more traffic. And if you ignore it, well let’s just say that you’re missing out on a ton of high quality traffic.

I’m Brian Dean, the founder of Backlinko, the place where marketers turn for higher rankings and more traffic. And in this video I’m going to reveal what this new SEO ranking factor is, and three practical ways that you can take advantage of it. I’ll also show you the results of a real life case study that might surprise you, keep watching.

A while back I published a post on my blog called How to Get High Quality Back links Without Guest Posting. And like all of my blog posts, I made sure to optimize this post around a keyword. In this case the keyword was High Quality Back links, sure enough, thanks to the white hot links that I built to that past, it quickly hit the first page for that keyword.

But here’s where things got weird. One day I was checking my Google rankings and I saw something that made me almost fall out of my seat. Not only was I ranking for High Quality Back links, but I also ranked on the first page for the keyword How to Get High.

Say what?

Needless to say, my post had nothing to do with getting high. But then I realized why Google ranked me for that keyword. It’s because I had the keyword How to Get High in my content. But here’s where things got really interesting. Most people that came to my site from Google spent nearly three minutes on my site. But for this page the average is only one minute and 12 seconds; less than half of my site-wide average. So, what’s going on here?

When people search for How to Get High and clicked on my result they quickly realized that I wasn’t going to teach them how to make their own Breaking Bad style meth lab, so they quickly hit their back button and left. This told Google, in black and white, people searching for How to Get High hate this page, and Google took action.

A few weeks later, my page dropped like a stone for the keyword How to Get High. It literally went from number six to 12, to 21, to 33 in a matter of days. But check this out, my ranking for the keyword High Quality Backlinks didn’t drop, in fact, they continued to climb. Why? Because people searching for High Quality Backlinks stuck to my site like Super-Glue.

How do I know?

After my rankings for How to Get High dropped, the overall Bounce Rate and Time on Page for my article significantly improved.

Now in a minute, I’ll show you how you can easily keep Google searchers on your site longer. But for now I want to show you where things stand today. Today my page ranks number one in Google for the keyword High Quality Backlinks. And for the keyword How to Get High, I’m nowhere to be found.

That’s the power of this new SEO ranking factor. So what’s the takeaway lesson from this story? Even though backlinks continue to be the cornerstone of Google’s algorithm, it’s clear that ‘user experience signals’ influence search engine rankings today.

I’m about to show you three practical ways that you can take advantage of these user experience signals, including my favorite the APP Formula. But first, I want to tell you another quick story to show you just how important user experience signals are today.

A few years back tech writer Steven Levy wrote an insider account of Google, called In the Plex. In that book Steven states, on the most basic level, Google could see how satisfied users were. The best sign of their happiness was the Long Click. In other words, when people click on your site in Google and stick around, it sends a very strong message that your page makes searchers happy.

But when people quickly leave your site like they’re on a Pogo stick, it tells Google the opposite. It shows them that your page isn’t a good fit for that keyword. The question is how can you get people to stick to your site so that Google sees you as the best result for that keyword?

The answer; the three insanely actionable techniques that I’m going to show you right now.

How To Boost Your Google SEO Ranking Factors

First up, we have Bucket Brigades. Before I got in to SEO, I used to work as a freelance copywriter and I had a problem; a lot of my clients would hire me to write these crazy long, 6,000 word sales letters. You know those sales pages that are like 25 pages long and you have to keep scrolling and scrolling to get to the end?

Bucket Brigades

I wrote those all the time. The problem I had was this – it’s really hard to keep people on a page that’s 6,000 words long. People don’t have the attention span to skim that much content, never mind read it, and I tried every trick in the book to keep people’s attention. I tried images, I tried videos, I tried story telling, I tried everything… But the sales letters just weren’t compelling enough to keep people from hitting their Back button.

And then one day, I had a breakthrough. I discovered a little know technique called Bucket Brigades that copy writers have been using for decades. And these Bucket Brigades instantly made my content much more compelling.

So what are they? Bucket Brigades are words and phrases that keep people on your page. Specifically, they make your visitors want to keep reading.

For example, I have a post on my site called “How to Boost Conversions by 529%” and the average Time on Page for that article is almost four minutes. And a good chunk of that above average Time on Page is do to Bucket Brigades, like this;

Bucket Brigade Example 1

And this…

Bucket Brigade Example 2

And this…

Bucket Brigade Example 3

When you see one of those Bucket Brigades, it opens up a little information gap in your mind, and you can’t help but read the next sentence. Bottom line? Whenever you have a place in your content where people might get bored and hit their Back button, add a Bucket Brigade.

Once you’ve added some Bucket Brigades to your content it’s time for strategy number two.

Benefit Driven Subheadings

Let me ask you something, which of these two posts would you rather read?

Benefit Driven Subheadings

If you’re like most people, you prefer the one on the left. Why? Because the content on the left is broken up with subheadings. In my experience subheadings are huge, you can never use enough of them.

For example, my post “17 Insanely Actionable List Building Strategies” has an average Time on Page of over five minutes. The number one reason? Because the post contains lots and lots of subheadings. But not just any subheadings, Benefit-Driven Subheadings.

I’ll explain, most people use random subheadings like this:

Use Benefit Driven Subheadings Instead of These

Sure, that does break your content up into easy to read chunks. But random subheadings like that won’t grab your readers attention and make them say to themselves, wow, there’s a ton of value here. Fortunately, there’s a quick fix for that. Include benefits in your subheadings.

For example, in my list building post I use benefit-rich copy in almost every subheading. Instead of a bland subheading like, Focus on Your Thank You Page, I put the benefit front and center:

Use Benefit-Rich Copy In Almost Every Subheading

The APP Formula

Okay, so I saved the best for last, the APP Formula. Here’s the truth; when someone visits your page from Google you have two seconds to convince them to stick around, not 10, not five, two. And if you lose them in those two seconds, you lose them for good.

But if you hit your visitor off with something amazing right off the bat, they’re much more likely to stick around. And as you saw earlier in this video,
this boost in Time on Page can be huge for your Google rankings. And whenever I need to improve the Time on Page for one of my articles, I turn to the APP Formula.

So what is it? The APP Formula is a proven content introduction framework that’s designed to do one thing – keep Google visitors on your page longer. Here’s what the APP Formula looks like:

The APP Formula

As you can see, APP stands for Agree, Promise and Preview. Now I’m going to break each of these three elements down and show you a real life example of how I used the APP Formula to keep Google searchers on my page.

APP Formula… “Agree”

First up we have “Agree”. You want to start your intro off with an idea or concept that someone searching for your keyword will agree with. This shows that you understand their problem, and when someone sees that you understand them and their problems, they’re much more likely to stick around.

For example, a while back I published a blog post that showed people how to create a high converting squeeze page. Here’s the intro from that post:

The APP Formula – Agree

See how I say, I think you’ll agree with me when I say, it’s really hard to convert ice cold traffic into email subscribers. That’s something that anyone trying to build an email list can relate to. Now that you’ve got them nodding their head in agreement, it’s time for the Promise.

APP Formula… “Promise”

The “Promise” is where you give your reader a peek into a better world. Here’s an example from my Squeeze Page post:

The APP Formula – Promise

Most people think that you need to run hundreds of A/B tests to get more email sign ups. But my promise shows that there’s an easier way.

APP Formula… “Preview”

Finally, hit them with the “Preview”. There’s no need to beat around the bush here, you’re preview just needs to tell your reader exactly what you have in store for them. For example, here’s the preview from my Social Squeeze page post.

The APP Formula – Preview

And once you put the finishing touches on your preview, you’re set. Now you have an introduction that keeps Google searchers on your site. And a page that Google will want to show to more people.

Now I want to turn it over to you. Which of the three strategies from this video are you going to use first? Are you pumped to try Bucket Brigades? Or maybe you want to give the APP Formula a shot?

So in this video I talk with Sunny Lenarduzzi about Snapchat tips how to get videos found in search and her A.C.E. strategy coming up.

SEAN CANNEL: Hey what’s up guys Sean here with video influencers and I’m sitting here with Sunny Lenarduzzi. She is a social media influencer, branding expert and real video marketing expert. She’s done some big campaigns for HootSuite and a really well known one with over a billion views for Applebees as well as she’s got a great YouTube channel and in really less than a year has grown to over 17 000 subscribers. So you’ve got some great tips for video influencers and its great to have you on, how are you doing?

SUNNY LENARDUZZI: Thank you so much for having me I’m so excited to be here.

SEAN: Yeah it’s great to have you and we’re here at CES, just chilling outside, literally, it’s pretty cold. But she’s from Canada, so it’s not even cold for you.

SUNNY: This is like this is hot for me. I’m wondering why the pools aren’t open.

SEAN: I’m trying to borrow your jacket, but she said no, but whatever. Anyways so – online video – here’s the big question I mean you probably have a lot of different tips and there’s a lot of different questions I want to ask you. But one those questions specifically is what did you learn in the
process of growing your YouTube channel now to over 17,000 subscribers in a really short time?

SUNNY: Yeah it’s been to be honest unexpected and I told the story a few times, but the way I started my channel was quite organic and on a whim. So I started it March 31st when I put out my first tutorial. Before that I had a YouTube channel but I didn’t really use it and I was looking for a Periscope tutorial. I couldn’t find one at the time so I was like, I’m just going to make one. So I made one and it really took off.

I use, I mean obviously optimization and keyword targeting and all that kind of stuff, but it was completely organic. I didn’t pay for advertising or anything and I like, ok I’m on to something.

And more than anything, I was just really excited because the gratitude for the video was really cool, and people were like, wow I couldn’t find this information anywhere else, I’m super glad that you broke it down like this. And I feel like I’m a fairly good teacher, so that’s really why I love doing the videos, because I’m able to bring down things that are maybe a little more complex. And if you don’t eat, sleep and breath social media and video marketing like I do, you want that quick hit of how to do things. So that’s really why I started the channel.

SEAN: That’s awesome and you mention a few things in there that I’d love for you to share, more tips on. One of the things you mention was keyword targeting, like what’s that mean?

SUNNY: Well basically I mean it’s using Google adwords keyword planner and going in and seeing what the search volume is, and seeing also one of the things that I have noticed is, the higher the bid it tends to perform a little better, depending on what kind of audience you are going after.

So if you’re going after an audience that you want to convert into customers, whether you’re selling product or you’re selling information, the higher the bid tends to work better because you know it’s competitive and you know people are actually paying for it. So that’s one little trick but yeah looking at the search volume for sure.

Also checking YouTube search bar and just typing things and seeing what are the top ten suggestions are, and those are really good clues as to what will work well for your title.

SEAN: That’s awesome and then one of the other things you mention was teaching. And so you are actually breaking down a ton of value and if you haven’t seen her videos – super valuable – super practical. What are some of your tips for those that are maybe floundering, trying to find their niche and discover what value they have to offer?

SUNNY: I think first and foremost you have to enjoy what your talking about. I love what I do. I’m often asked that, like did you plan on choosing this? Is it strategic? I’ve loved social media for a long time. I had a consultancy for about six years and I’m a little obsessed with it, so it was a natural fit for me.

So don’t try and fit into something that’s not a natural fit for you and that your not super, super educated on. I still have to learn everyday in order to put these tutorials together, but that’s one thing. And I think just paying attention to trends too is really important, paying attention to the questions people are asking you – your zone of genius generally lays where people are giving you gratitude and more people are saying you are doing a really great job on this. So, hone in on that, pay attention to what people are asking you over and over again, especially on other social platforms and that tends to give you clues as well as what you should creating content about.

SEAN: I love it know you mention trends and so it’s 2016 now we are starting the year off what are some of your maybe predictions and some things you think people can take advantage of this year on online video and social media in general?

SUNNY: Oh that’s a good one. I mean live streaming is like everything right now, so I’m kinda over the whole like Meercat or Periscope or Facebook live versus what ever the next thing is, because I know there’s one here this weekend. But yeah, I mean I think live streaming is only gonna continue, I think Snapchat is going to be everything.

I was just talking about this yesterday, someone was saying “where’s all your CS content” and I’ve been posting nonstop on Snapchat and I did a Snapchat tutorial. Its actually my most successful video that was also a huge shock.

But the reason I love Snapchat is you can post as much as you want without irritating people and the audience on snapchat is so much more engaged, because they have to consciously go and find you and have to consciously click on your story. There isn’t a feed coming at you like on Twitter and on Facebook and Instagram, where they stumble across you. They’re consciously going and seeking you out and seeking your content out and actually watching it. So I expect big things from Snapchat this year, big time, and just more real time engagement for sure.

SEAN: I love it and maybe if you’d give away of course not all your secrets but when you think about your strategy for 2016, what are some of the things you’re doing and maybe a tip, an insider tip.

SUNNY: Let me think, that’s a good question. This year I’m really focus on kind of upgrading the quality of my videos. I think, here’s the thing, I started with a webcam, I still have that webcam, I love it (Logitec c920 highly recommended). But I just actually got my first ‘big girl’ camera. I got a canon 70D, so I think improving the quality, I’d like also improve the consistency, so I do them every Tuesday. I put out new videos every Tuesday, but I’d like to put a few more per month.

And then as far as tips go, I think the biggest thing I’ve learned with YouTube is, yes, the growth has been insane. I really am truly surprise by the growth on my channel, but I think more than anything what has been a key to my success (shout out to DJ Khaled), I think what has been
a key to my success is my community. That’s really where I focus; when people comment on my videos or when people share my videos, saying thank you ’cause they don’t have to and I realize that they’re taking time out of their day to watch my stuff.

And honestly, another thing I find people say a lot of the time is, “I followed your steps for optimization and it’s not working”. Ok, that might not be working, but the thing is you can’t just title something with a good keyword and have it be not really, really in-depth good content. So go as in-depth as you can with what ever it is you are covering and make it as creative as possible, ’cause it’s the uniqueness that stand out and keeps people coming back.

SEAN: That’s really really good. And so what is maybe some final thoughts and just encouragement for those creating videos creating content for this
year?

SUNNY: I think, I call it my A.C.E. strategy, so if you want to ‘ace’ your strategy, if you want to build authority on a specific niche, so keep it niche whatever that is.

Consistency; stay consistent because I equate it to when you’re dating somebody – if your boyfriend or girlfriend says we are gonna go for dinner every Friday night and the first Friday you’re supposed to go they don’t show up, and then the second Friday they don’t show up, you’re probably gonna break up with them. So your audience is the same thing, you want to have them know that they can trust you, that you’re gonna be there

And then finally engagement. So make sure that you’re actually engaging with your community like I said.

SEAN: That’s brilliant! The A.C.E. strategy for this year… that is amazing! Well thanks so much for being on your channel, Sunny
Lenarduzzi

SUNNY: And also if you are looking for help with video marketing, I do have a course called Recording For Revenue. It covers every single social video platform really in depth with how to use case studies, all those things for success. So you can check that out too.

If you’re a regular blog commenter or aspire to be (the benefits of blog commenting properly are outstanding), I’m going to explain how you can get some real benefits of RSS for blog commenting.

Websites and blogs come in all shapes and sizes and if you’re trying to keep track of many regularly updated sites, then you could simply end up with a ton of bookmarks to check through every day or so. Pretty laborious! That’s where RSS comes in.

What Is RSS?

RSS literally stands for Rich Site Summary. Or alternatively, it’s also known to stand for Really Simple Syndication, which is what I’ve always called it. An RSS ‘feed’, as it’s called, is simply a standardised format for providing content from websites which regularly update over time.

Blogs most commonly employ RSS feeds. WordPress is becoming widely used for almost any kind of website nowadays because of its versatility as a content management system and its ever growing popularity and third party support. But because it’s essentially a blogging platform at its core, most all WordPress based sites have an RSS feed by default. RSS feeds can therefore be found on a wider and wider variety of websites as a result.

RSS Feed Icon

You can sometimes see an icon link to a site’s RSS feed in the header or footer, sometimes next to the social media buttons for the site. Even if the site has no visible link to an RSS feed, you can often discover this by simply typing /feed after the domain name. However, the method I’m going to talk about involves an application which will sniff out the RSS feed of any website you’re on.

Most blogs have a main site feed, but also offer comment feeds for their posts. At the moment I’m just using main feeds from each site, although there’s probably a clever way of using the comment feeds which I haven’t thought of yet.

If you have any bright ideas on that, please feel free to comment constructively below.

Inoreader’s Free RSS Reader

The tool or application I’m talking about here is an RSS feed reader or aggregator. Now I’m not going to go into the pros and cons of RSS readers; there’s plenty to choose from with various levels of complexity, so it’s up to you to find and check out which one fits your purposes best. I will talk about the one I use though, and that’s Inoreader.

Inoreader RSS Feed Reader

Inoreader is available for free as an app for Android and iOS, and also as an add on or extension for Firefox and Chrome. Internet Explorer is also supported I think. I’m using the Firefox version which works in-browser and is fabulous!

So, when I’m on a blog or site which I want to follow for the purposes of commenting on relevant or interesting posts, all I do is click the Inoreader button in Firefox’s toolbar and a drop down window offers to find all the RSS feeds on the site. You can then select the feed you want to subscribe to and it appears in your Inoreader’s Subscriptions list on the left.

Maximizing the Benefits of RSS for Blog Commenting With Inoreader

Clicking on All Articles gives you a nice clean line-by-line list of all blog names, post titles & first sentence from all your saved RSS feeds, sorted by chronologically with the newest at the top – very handy for getting in quick as one of the the first commenters.

One great feature of Inoreader is that you can organise your blog feeds into separate named folders.

However another even more powerful feature is Inoreader’s comprehensive search facility. You can search all your feeds quickly and easily for keywords in titles and/or content using simple match types like match all words, match any, match full phrase or use advanced syntax to use operators like ‘and’ and ‘or’ to refine your search.

Additional search parameters include sort by newest, oldest or best matches first, and also selecting the article age range, eg. today, this week, this month, this year, all time, custom interval.

Inoreader Search Results Example

Imagine you’ve populated your Inoreader with feeds from numerous blogs in your niche who all post regularly. And now you’ve just written a post on a specific subject and want to comment on other blogs covering the same subject.

You see what I’m getting at here? Just do the search for your post’s keyword in Inoreader and there you go – highly relevant posts to comment on at the push of a button. How cool is that?

Here are my best tips for really turbo boosting back links re. the above example…

If you have the CommentLuv plugin, why not make a ‘CommentLuv’ folder in Inoreader and add in feeds from all the blogs you find in your niche supporting CommentLuv. Then search that folder for your post’s keyword and comment on the most relevant articles Inoreader finds for you. You should then get some nice ‘dofollow’ links back to your newest and highly relevant post.

You can Google for lists of CommentLuv enabled blogs, which may or may not be out of date. Perhaps a better idea is to go to Triberr, for instance, and look for the main blogs in your niche, visit them to check if they have CommentLuv. Then visit those bloggers commenting on this blog to see if they too have CommentLuv.

If you have the SEO Quake toolbar installed on your browser, you can configure this to automatically strike through any nofollow links on a page. You can then instantly determine if the blog allows dofollow CommentLuv links.

Add all the dofollow CommentLuv blogs in your niche to your Inoreader folder and comment on any articles as soon as they appear.

Remember ~ Responsible Blog Commenting Only!

OK yes, so we’re all looking for some nice back links. But please remember that blog commenting is a social activity. You’re writing to the author or owner of the blog and adding value to the post and also possibly establishing a working relationship further down the road, either with that blog owner or even with other blog commenters! So let back links take a back seat in your mind when blog commenting and look to add value and build relationships as the priorities.

If you’ve got any of your own tips or thoughts on any of these matters, please feel free to comment constructively below.

UPDATE – Below is my stripped down ping service list for WordPress in 2020s. WARNING: Clean up your WordPress ping list to avoid potential search engine ranking penalties!

Whenever you publish a post on a self-hosted WordPress blog, WordPress will ping all the services listed in the Update Services field. You can find your WordPress ping list by going to Settings / Writing – Update Services (box at the bottom of this page).

This automatic pinging offers a great advantage of publishing content on a blog rather than a static website, because pinging these services is effectively screaming from the rooftops to the search engines to come and check out this new content right now.

Risk of Spamming Ping Services?

There has been some discussion over the years about users of WordPress unwittingly or otherwise spamming ping services by editing and updating articles over and over resulting in blacklisting by these ping services.

The good news is that current versions of WordPress now intelligently ping these services when a post is first published and then keeps track of previous successful pings taking care not to re-ping them. So this essentially means that there is no longer any danger of accidental ping spamming and you no longer need a ping optimiser plugin.

You can read more about this from Chip Bennett, the author of cbnet Ping Optimizer plugin, who kindly left his product page up and used it to explain why you don’t need to worry about the pinging problem anymore in WordPress.

Ping Service List For WordPress

The other matter is do you just use the default pingomatic service which pings a range of services? Or should you paste in a list of additional services for maximum exposure? Well there must be loads of pro bloggers that probably don’t even worry about this and just stick with pingomatic.

However my thoughts are that if you’re looking to get your posts indexed and ranked as quickly as possible, then pasting in an up to date list of additional ping services is likely to help with this cause.

IMPORTANT 2020s UPDATE AND WARNING!

The following is an excerpt from a long post by Glen Allsopp from his old viperchill.com blog…

“I received a personal reply from Google’s head of web-spam, Matt, who asked me if, when a blog posts goes live, I ping certain services.

If you’re wondering what that is, basically it’s something that I think of as so little and irrelevant that I cannot believe it was questioned. If you log into your WordPress Admin area and go to Settings > Writing, you’ll see a list of ‘services’ that you can ping (alert) whenever a new article of yours goes live. It’s something I set up years ago and have never touched or thought about since.

Though I wasn’t pinging the services Matt asked me about, I was pinging a few with a foreign domain extension that he had mentioned and a lot of others, so I decided to remove all but a couple of them from my list. A few days later and my rankings were back where they should be. How crazy is it that some behind the scenes WordPress setting was costing me search rankings for my own brand name?”

Therefore, I’m deciding to avoid any potential penalties to my blog. So my…

WordPress Ping List 2020

…is as follows:

http://rpc.pingomatic.com
http://blogsearch.google.com/ping/RPC2

That’s it. And to be honest, I don’t even think that’s even necessary any more.

As long as you’ve uploaded your XML sitemap to Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools, you should be just fine.

Additionally, it’s probably a good idea to manually add each blog post to Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools for indexing.

So it’s time to crank up some decent off-site SEO for my blog. To start this process, I’ve installed a free social network auto poster for WordPress on my blog.

With this free WordPress plugin from Nextscript.com, once all your social media and micro blogging accounts are set up and integrated, when you publish a blog post, Social Network Auto Poster will automatically post updates to up to 26 different platforms complete with with back links to that post.

Now it has to be said that some of the platforms supported by NextScript’s Social Network Auto Poster (SNAP) need to be paid accounts to achieve full integration with SNAP. And also there are a few which are kind of flaky, are closing down or seem to be too problematic (for me anyway).

Also if you get the paid version of Social Network Auto Poster this will enable auto posting to Pinterest, Reddit, LinkedIn etc. via NextScript’s custom SNAP API.

My Top 10 Bookmarking, Micro Blogging and Social Media Websites for SNAP

The long and the short of it is that I’ve spent the last couple of days setting up and testing a total of 10 of the most robust and popular free bookmarking, micro blogging and social media websites. With the exception of Facebook, I’ve created these accounts under pseudonyms and updated them with profile pics, cover images and nice bios.

Here’s a list of some the platforms I’ve integrated into NextScript’s Social Network Auto Poster plugin on my blog:

Blogger

Facebook

Flickr

Instapaper

LiveJournal

Plurk

Tumblr

Twitter

So whenever I publish a new post, all these accounts are updated where applicable with the post excerpt, featured image, post title with back link anchor text. This plugin has several other features which are available in free version.

2 More Features of NextScript Social Network Auto Poster

However one I will mention is the facility to make a post to all configured social/blogging platforms at once, without needing to create a WordPress blog post. I think that this would be a great opportunity to provide some diverse back links to other off-blog pages you may wish to improve search engine rankings for, e.g. YouTube videos.

Another great feature is that you can go back through prior blog posts and post them via SNAP to your list of platforms. This is something I’ll be doing spread out over a few days with all my handful of blog posts to date. Then I’ll be heading over to Feedshark to ping all these sites and their RSS feeds where available.

Buying Tier 2 Backlinks to Tier 1 Social Network Sites

Fiverr.com’s Logo

I may invest in some tier 2 back links to these tier 1 pages to give them some link juice and authority to pass on to my blog. Now I know that there are lots of dubious back linking services available on sites like Fiverr and SEO Clerks. These may well do more harm than good for Google ranking, and even for SEOing tier 2 back link sites. However there are also some reputable sellers doing solid off-page SEO work really cheap.

For information only, the sellers I’ve had good experiences with in the past on Fiverr were:

tshirtzone (Do manual 62 pr7 to pr3 offpage seo dofollow backlinks)

volarex (Do seo linkwheel pyramid to website blog or youtube to rank on google)

blboss (Manually do 30 pr9 safe seo high pr backlinks 2015 best results)

There are probably plenty of other decent gigs like this now from other sellers. But these are the one’s that I have used. My opinion is that it’s best NOT to use such services to generate back links directly to my main site, but to the tier 1 SNAP back linking sites.

If I decide to do go ahead with this plan, I will probably look to focus page rank juice on those tier 1 assets which allow page rank to flow (dofollow links) such as Blogger, Delicious and Tumblr. NB. (There’s a really useful free browser addon I use called SEO Quake which actually ‘strikes-through’ all nofollow text links on a page once loaded in the browser.)

But do your own due diligence of course before you spend money on back linking. Most may do your site’s rankings more harm than good!

To date, I’ve done little to directly promote my blog. Other than to share it on my relatively new social media pages on Facebook and Twitter.

Quick Update On Promoting My Blog

Neither yet have I actively promoted these social media accounts. This has been partly because my blog and social media sites have been new and relatively underpopulated, offering little of value so far.

However I think that this has been gradually changing over the weeks, with a decent aggregation of valuable and unique content now published on my blog.

So I feel more confident that it’s now time to more actively promote my blog with this off-page optimisation. This should attract more visitors and start improving my search engine rankings. I’ll then hopefully start to benefit from organic search engine traffic.

To this end I’ve started to use a free social network auto-poster plugin for WordPress. This plugin enables me to promote my blog quickly and easily. Once set up, it streamlines the sharing of content across many social media and micro blogging platforms.

I’ll be doing some more SEO work on these and my blog in the next few weeks.

I recommend you check out this Free Social Network Auto-Poster for WordPress article on my blog for more information and the WordPress social auto-poster plugin mentioned here.

My friend Paul contacted me the other day. He asked about how to get clients to the new website he was building for his voice over work. I thought I’d post my reply here re. SEO new website for organic search engine traffic.

Hi Paul

Building a site and obtaining traffic kind of go hand in hand really. If you’re looking to build a long term online asset for a permanent business then most experts would suggest having your own domain and website.

However I’m sure that many successful enterprises do very well with free website builders and I can’t see any reason why you can’t too with your Wix site. You could even do everything via a Facebook Fan Page!

At this point I think I can only really offer you some basic advice from my own experience and understanding which I’m happy to do here:

How To Get Free Traffic To Your Website

You can either drive paid traffic or work on getting free traffic via certain seo new website techniques.

Paid traffic can be acquired, for example, via pay per click Google adwords, Bing ads, Facebook ads etc.

You can obtain free traffic from organic search results by using a combination of elements. Both on-page search engine optimisation and off-page factors play a part in achieving search engine rankings.

On-page optimisation is when you focus your website and its pages each around a certain individual keyword.

I’ve attached a spreadsheet (image screenshot below) of some basic keyword research for your industry sector. The useful metric on this sheet is the average keyword competitiveness score (range 1-100). This gives an indication of how easy it would be to rank a page for that keyword in Google. The lower the score, the easier it should be.

Off-page factors are basically the quality and quantity of links to your page from other websites, along with social signals such as Facebook likes, shares etc.

Good market research would be to look at the content on your keyword competitors websites which should give you some insights for your on-page optimisation.

If you open a free account on Moz.com you can use their Site Explorer which allow you to paste in a competitor’s web page and obtain site metrics and the key inbound links for that page. You could then go about obtaining back links from these very same sites to boost your seo new website. Here’s an example screenshot from Moz.com:
