Just wanted to write a quick update about me, and some changes that have happened in my life over the past year.

I’ve been kind of “in between homes” for several months, waiting for my dream English country cottage to finally become available to move in.

After moving out of my previous home last year, and putting all my stuff into storage, I went over to Ireland with two cats and a border collie, to live on my family’s small holding up in the Ox Mountains in County Mayo, just on the border with County Sligo.

This was planned to be a temporary arrangement, just until the new place became available. But time dragged on a bit longer than I expected. And with broadband speeds of up to a mighty 0.5Mbs, working at any sort of speed online was difficult.

So thank goodness my online business runs smoothly pretty much all on it’s own, only needing a couple of hours a day.

However, the landscape, the weather, and the way of life out there was pretty spectacular. County Mayo has a very low population density, and I generally encountered no other human beings when out walking the dog every day – just sheep and wild mountain goats.

Moving back to England with the pets a couple of weeks ago, was quite a culture shock. Just to see so many cars on the roads, and so many people again, after living my hermit-like life in the mountains for longer than I’d anticipated.

But thankfully, I wasn’t moving back into a busy city or town. Just a pretty little village, nestled in the gently rolling English countryside of South Norfolk.

And what a relief to be back on decent broadband at last! There’s still much to do here in my new cottage, to settle in properly. But I should be back to blogging more frequently and regularly from now on. And also building up my social media marketing.

Anyway, enough about me… back to work writing emails for my autoresponder series, prepping my next blog post, and hooking back up with all my social media accounts again!

It’s been such a long time since I posted in my About Me category. So some sort of update is long overdue.

Had a bit of a slow autumn and drifted away from the business and blog. I let other things in life kind of take over for a while. Lots of personal development; life lessons, reading, courses etc. All constructive stuff and has really paid off for me.

I spent early autumn on a YouTube project which was more of an experiment in content syndication and back-link building. I learned a lot about workflow automation, which is now hugely benefiting my current marketing activities.

A horrible bout flu for about 5 weeks took me right out of circulation for most of November and into December. Then after a quiet and peaceful Christmas and now into the New Year of 2017, like many, I am now having a solid reboot of my business activities.

I’m currently posting every day on my blog, but I don’t know if I can (or want to) keep that up! I think it’s important to maintain that as a goal, but I’ll not lose sleep if I miss a day or two here and there. As long as I’m working on my business in other areas, especially social media marketing.

For me in 2017, Twitter will be a strong channel of exposure and lead generation. I have numerous ‘persona’ accounts in several related niches which are taking off nicely. Semi-automatic works really well on Twitter and there are some great tools to achieve this in a really natural, organic and engaging way. But logging in every day and interacting with your Twitter audience is very important. Still some work to do with the semi-auto on some accounts, and then get them all on to Statusbrew.

I’m feeling that Instagram will soon be the next step for me, as I use Gimp pretty much every day for all kinds of graphical work. However I must make sure I don’t start too many projects though, manage my time effectively, keep up with the blogging, and use workflow automation tools as judiciously as possible.

So there you have it. All up to date at last for now.

After making my first blog post in a few months, last week started out with all good intentions and I set out plans of work to get done, such as scripting and shooting videos, updating my blog, and making a few more good posts as well as a sales page for a new exciting webinar.

However, life quickly took over and the week became chaotic and busy, but in a good way really. My partner Anita is a well respected Aromatherapist and healer and has also taken on the role of a dog walker/sitter for her friend’s new border collie pup, Rosie. Anita’s friend is a single mum (or mom if you’re in the States) who lives in a small 2up/2down terraced house in the city, has a 5 year old child and also works full time.

Now I know what you’re thinking – why on earth did she get a border collie pup? I honestly don’t think there’s a breed with more stamina and energy to burn than border collies. Beautiful animals though, highly intelligent and extremely sensitive to their owners every signal.

Anyway, Anita had to spend most of last week preparing for an event at the weekend and had very little time for the little pup Rosie (except for a quick trip to the coast at Lowestoft – see photo). So guess what that meant. Yes, I became assistant (to the) chief dog walker last week.

Trips to the park and lots of ball chasing ate into all my big plans. Don’t get me wrong, I love spending time with Rosie, she’s adorable as you can see, but I was glad when the weekend came and Anita was away on her event and Rosie’s owner could look after her. Time to get some work done.

Well the weekend came and went far too quickly, but I did get a few videos shot and edited, blog updated and tweaked including my logo which now includes my face (for better or worse!). Much more work to do though, it’s Monday morning and I’m sitting outside with coffee typing this while Rosie patiently waits for ‘walkies’ in the park. I do like Mondays!

Well it’s been a few months since I posted here. So it’s high time for an update!

There have been some changes in my life over these last few months, which have meant that I haven’t been able to focus on this blog and business as much as I would have liked.

My partner and I were unexpectedly served an eviction notice from our home at the end of November. This gave us a couple of months to find a new home at probably the worst time of year, Christmas & New Year.

Fortunately the Gods were smiling upon us and we found a place in January. But we could only move in at the end of February. Thankfully we were able to extend the eviction notice period by another month to allow for this.

The house move went ahead on 27th February. All went well enough I guess, but it was physically and emotionally stressful! I lost over 2 stone (which I needed to!)

It’s taken the last couple of weeks to unpack and sort out the new house, including internet etc. My partner has a new therapy studio and can run her workshops from home now. And I have my own home office at last!

So here I am again, determined to (re)start my blog and my Internet Profits business again, especially with all the exciting changes, updates and business growth that are now happening within Dean Holland’s Internet Profits. I will be blogging an update on Internet Profits very soon.

Right, it’s a couple of days or so since my last post, in which I took stock after going through The Social Loop training and decided upon a relaunch of sorts or a new direction for my relatively new blog.

Even though I may have few visitors or traffic to my blog or social media sites yet, I’m following the advice of The Social Loop training to just keep posting genuine, authentic content consistently, in order to be of benefit to any who actually find my blog amongst the clamour of content on this subject. Then sharing this content on multiple active and growing social media accounts; Facebook Pages, Twitter, Pinterest.

I’m a real person on a real journey and am using this blog as a journal, to share the lessons I’m learning along the way, and to share useful digital marketing insights from my mentor and other successful online marketers that I think will be of significant benefit to you.

How to Build a Website or Blog

So, what have I been up to? Well I was thinking about all the services and tools I use in the course of my internet marketing business and I was surprised at just how many there were. The list just kept growing and growing!

It made me realise that this could be a really valuable resource for anyone else who is just starting out with their internet marketing business. So I’ve created a new section on my website on “Building Websites & Blogs” and have added a couple of posts covering the basics of domains and hosting, and setting up WordPress.

I plan to be adding more to this section soon, so please come back and check it out and maybe you’ll find something useful for your business.

When I joined Internet Profits, thinking that I knew best – even though I was a blogging beginner – I steamed ahead building my new business. This WordPress blog, for example, and all the social media accounts.

Fortunately, I already had accounts with a domain name registrar, a website hosting company, and an autoresponder service. I therefore spent my time on the following:

• Thinking about my brand, brainstorming domain names then buying one and updating the name servers to point to my host’s servers.
• Installing WordPress on my new domain.
• Deciding upon the look and feel of my new blog/website and buying a professional theme.
• Designing a simple logo for the site.
• Creating a Facebook Page for my business.
• Creating social media accounts for my business on Twitter, Google+ and YouTube.
• Designing the cover graphics for each of these accounts / pages.
• Setting up a 2 step opt-in page, with a split test (video background vs white background).
• Recording a couple of video blogs or v-logs, uploading to YouTube and sharing on my blog and social media sites (I’m rubbish at v-logging, but hoping to improve!).
• Writing and posting a couple of internet marketing articles and sharing them on my social media accounts.
• Writing around 30 decent forum posts on Warrior Forum, and then added my signature link.
• Following internet marketers and positive thinkers on Facebook, commenting, liking and sharing their posts.
• Populating my autoresponder series with useful and engaging emails as well as the promotional ones.

I’m sure I could think of more, but even writing that list exhausts me!

Blogging Beginner Tip

All this within two weeks, but not a single sale yet. Of course I haven’t really been actively driving traffic so I can’t expect sales yet based upon just getting the online infrastructure in place.

After all that, I had a bit of a panic attack yesterday and realised I needed to reign myself in a bit and take stock.

My big mistake as a blogging beginner was that I hadn’t taken the time to go through enough of the simply awesome, no-nonsense training that’s privately available to all Internet Profits Certified Partners.

So, when I woke up this morning, I decided to stop and go through The Social Loop training available to me as an Internet Profits Partner. And I’m so grateful that I did.

I now feel calm and purposeful and am restructuring my website (or hub site as Dean calls it) into more of a “my personal story” blog or journal rather than a generic internet marketing site. Although I still plan to add useful articles along the way as I learn the trade.

So there it is for now! I guess this counts as my first blog on this new road.

I’ve been making a living online of one sort or another for years. Since 2003 in fact, when I built my first website.

There have been some small successes along the way, plenty of failures, and I’ve been in and out of debt along the way.

I’ve learnt the hard way that it’s a tough business making money online, especially when you’re on your own.

I had nobody around me who knew anything about internet marketing, so it seemed that it was up to me to figure it all out for myself.

Trouble is there are loads of ways of making money online, so where on earth do you start?

I was about to give up for good, when I discovered that what I really needed was an honest and successful mentor, who was willing to personally lay out his exact blueprint for success for me to follow.

This was the turning point!

I’ve now been able to quit my day job. And I’m happy to say that I’m finally on the road to real success, independence and freedom.
