How Many Subjects Do You Need To Become An Expert At In Your Business?

What does it take to become an expert at anything? And is becoming an expert at the multiple elements that comprise your business effective, or even feasible?

“It’s pretty crazy when you think about those numbers, really. I mean, there’s 24 hours in a day and you sleep for eight of them. So just imagine how long it takes. I mean pretty insane…

Good morning! Welcome to another episode of The Drive.

The Main Reason Why So Many People Fail To See The Results They Desire
The Main Reason Why So Many People Fail To See The Results They Desire

It is Dean here of course, on the route to Internet Profits HQ. And I want to address something this morning, on this short journey today.

One of the reasons so many people fail to see the results that they desire, or that they’re seeking in their business, I believe is… because they’re trying to learn everything. They’re trying to master everything.

There’s A Lot That You Could Choose To Learn, Right?

There’s, my gosh, probably hundreds, if not thousands of things you COULD choose to learn in business, and you COULD personally be focused on.

But the cold, hard truth is that you cannot master everything. In fact, it’s pretty staggering when you look at these numbers.

Scientists… I don’t know how this is calculated, but it’s definitely something I’ve read about… Scientists claim that it takes 10,000 hours to become an expert at something. 10,000 hours of focusing on one thing to become an expert at it.

10,000 hours! And I mean, when you think about that… There’s 24 hours in a day. Let’s just say the average person sleeps for eight of them. That leaves 16 hours. And then, when you think about all the other commitments and stuff going on in your day-to-day life…

Even if you did nothing other than sleep and focus on this – focus on your one area of mastery… It will take you, what?! Well, I’m not quick enough to figure that out. But years, and years, and years – to be deemed an expert on the area.

Now, when you then apply that to – let’s just say – the online marketing, or internet marketing, or affiliate marketing industry…

People Are Trying To Learn And Master Dozens And Dozens Of Things

…all at the same time. So, if you think about it, there is traffic generation, advertising, there’s a whole manner of things… Email list building, email marketing, copywriting, website building, funnel building, blogging, video creation, social media – Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn.

How Many Things Can You Afford To Become An Expert At?
How Many Things Can You Afford To Become An Expert At?

I mean that’s just a small – less than 1% – of what what we could probably reel off, given time to just sit down with a notepad and pen, and actually calculate all this stuff.

So think about it. When you say, in a data-driven way, it takes 10,000 hours of focusing on one thing to become an expert at it, to master it… And you’re trying to start a business, and you’re trying to learn 50 to 100 different things… And you wonder why, after months or even years of doing that, you’re not where you want to be.

When you think about it that way, can you even afford – and I’m not talking about financially, I’m talking about with the one thing we only have a limited amount of in our life, and that’s time… Can you afford with your “time coupons” that are being used up and expiring every day… Can you afford to try and become an expert at everything? Heck NO!

No, right? You cannot. So you need to figure out…

What Is The Fastest Path To Your Desired Outcome?

Pick Just One Or Two Things To Focus On And Master Over The Next 1-3 Years
Pick Just One Or Two Things To Focus On And Master Over The Next 1-3 Years

Okay? So how do you become an expert at something? You figure out which one or two things you’re going to be able to master over the next 12 months, 2 years, or 3 years. And you focus on them, and you master them, and you become great at them – provided those things are going to deliver you the outcome.

And for everything else? Well, you can pay others, you can outsource, you can hire… and you can make stuff happen.

There are already people that have spent years of their life becoming experts on graphic design, or website building, or copywriting, and all of those other things.

So if you don’t want to master those, or don’t have the time to master those – then you can outsource them. And you master YOUR thing, to become great. That’s how you become an expert at something. That is the most logical and sensible way to do it.

We are here at Internet Profits HQ. As always, have a great day. This is Dean signing out until “Business Mindset Tip: Is There An Easy Way To Make Money Fast?” the next episode of The Drive. Talk to you soon.

It’s true indeed. Learning never stops and one brain can not master alot of things in the business field. All we can do is to try and have something.

Agreed. And it’s important to focus on the stuff that you’re good at and have a passion for.
